Arrival & Culture Shock

Perhaps the most daunting part of the experience at this stage is the journey between KLIA and your work place. The only way one could get over that anxiety is to be prepared. While all participants are briefed during the pre-departure orientation on what to expect, it is still important for you to understand a bit more about the local environment through internet search, information provided by employer and making the necessary ground travel arrangements. We are here to assist though it is incumbent upon you to make the necessary arrangements yourself which is part of learning process. Providing travel itinerary at least 2 weeks before departure is mandatory.

While it is different for every individual, experiencing culture shock is normal. Keeping a positive attitude and making an effort to have fun and be involved usually helps. Most if not all participants in the past are surprised by how friendly the Americans are and how safe most places are.

While we do encourage students to be independent, if you or your parents are uncomfortable about you travelling alone, we will assist in finding travel partners who share the same term break and planning to work for the same employer.
