Application Procedure

Application is a simple process, but sometimes it can be lengthy. Please make sure you understand the programme before proceeding.

Preliminary enquiry

Submit the online enquiry form, send us an e-mail or call us to ask any questions or make an eligibility check. Our office will contact you to answer any questions you may have. Alternatively, make an appointment to see us at our office or see us during our visits to your university.

Candidate selection

You will be required to complete our application form and attend a short interview. The short interview is important for us to assess your suitability for the programme and to confirm your eligibility. There is no obligation to sign up after the interview – and no payment required!

Enrollment

To confirm your participation, you will have to make a deposit of RM 150 and sign our terms and conditions. You are also required to decide on the dates and duration you wish to work for.

Job selection

You may then choose a job from the list of employers attending the hiring event or submit a simple resume for us to find a suitable job. We will assist in providing as much information as we can with regards to the job.

DS application

Once the job has been accepted, you are required to submit a package of documents and the balance of the programme fee for DS 2019 and SEVIS application within 14 days. These documents include the legal sponsor application form, a copy of passport, proof of student status from your university / college and visa photo.

Visa application

You may pay the visa fee through us or directly into a bank as instructed by the US embassy. You will then be required to provide all the information required for a visa application to us on a spreadsheet in order for us to prepare your visa forms. You will also be advised on the supporting documents required for a visa application. Although we will provide as much assistance as we can during the visa application process, visa approval is not within our control. Students are encouraged to submit these supporting documents during the DS application for ease of processing.

Visa interview scheduling

Once the DS 2019 and SEVIS forms are ready (within 3 weeks from date of submission), we will fix a date for the embassy interview and guide you through the preparation. All interviews are conducted on Mon – Fri 7am – 10am with the exception of US and Malaysian holidays and other unexpected closing of the embassy.

Visa interview

We will either deliver the legal documents to you or meet you at the US embassy with the relevant documents and guide you through the process. We cannot, however, attend the interview with you or on your behalf.

Visa collection

You are responsible for collecting your own passport and visa the following working day (after 3pm) if visa has been approved during the visa interview. The passport and visa must be collected within 14 days from VFS office in Wisma MCA. Anybody can collect the passport and visa on your behalf if they have the necessary ticket. US Embassy now has a new service where you have the option of having your passport couriered to you Malaysia by ABX Express for a courier fee of RM30 per passport.

Tavel arrangements

You are expected to arrange your own flight and accommodation on arrival or transit. We will provide as much assistance as we can. However, since we are not a travel agent, we will not be able to issue air tickets. You could make your reservations once you have confirmed your job and dates though you should only have your tickets issued and paid after your visa is approved.

Pre-departure orientations

All students are required to attend an orientation arranged by the sponsor in KL. If you miss the orientation here, you will be required to attend one in the US and extra costs will be borne by you. The orientation will cover issues such as

  • important procedures upon arrival
  • legal documents explained
  • applying for Social Security card (necessary for working in the USA)
  • travel and medical coverage for the duration of your stay in the USA
  • emergency support services
  • and other useful information about being safe, managing problems at work and useful tips

Pre-departure information

It is mandatory that you provide your return flight itinerary to us once your air tickets have been issued. We will also provide a summary of important procedures for you to follow before you depart.
